Meet Dr. Murali Krishna Bhuvanagiri, affectionately known as Sarmaaji, an independent Hindu priest dedicated to serving the community in and around the Charlotte area, as well as nearby cities in NC & SC. Born in Haridwar and Later settled in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and Hyderabad, Telangana, he is the youngest son of B.V.V. Sastry, hailing from a Traditional Vedic Ancestral Family.
Currently serving as the Founder and Head Priest of "Sankaramatam Vedic Academy" in North Carolina, Sarmaaji is also Actively working on his dream project, the "Hanuman Temple of Charlotte." Previously, he held the position of Head Priest at the TRIAD HINDU TEMPLE in Greensboro, NC for more than 10 years. His expertise extends to performing "Vedic Shodasa Samskaras" in Telugu, Hindi, and Sanskrit, with the ability to explain them in English. Proficient in various South Indian languages and their Vedic rituals/customs, Sarmaaji has earned a special place as a Guru for many devotees in North Carolina.
As a Certified and Experienced "Smartha Agama Priest" recognized by the Endowments Department, Govt of India, Dr. Sarmaaji boasts strong experience in "Devaalaya Smartha Agama Sastra." He has conducted "Devalaaya Prathisthapana Pooja" (Temple Construction process) for over 20 temples in the USA and more than 100 globally.
With a remarkable 22+ years of experience in Vedic practice and 14+ years in astrology, Sarmaaji has reviewed over 5,000 horoscopes. He has been instrumental in preparing the "North American Telugu calendar" exclusively for the USA for the past 8 years.
Educationally, Sarmaaji obtained "Krishnayajur Veda Smartha Agama Sastra" from "Kanchi Kamakoti Smartha Vedapatasala" under the guidance of "Brahma Sri Emani Surya Narayana Murthy." He also earned a "Master's degree in Astrology (M.A)" from "Potti Sriramulu University, Hyderabad" under the supervision of Prof. CVB Subramanyam Garu. Furthermore, he holds a Doctorate degree in Astrology and Vastu with a Gold medal from OMKARESHWAR University, also recognized as JYOTISH VISHWA VIDYAPEETH OMKARESHWAR.
Sarmaaji has published over 100 articles on "Vaastu and Vedic astrology" in both Telugu and English through VB VEDIC astrology Blogspot (www.vbvedicastrology.blogspot.com/). He is a popular astrologer on YouTube with 52,000 subscribers on his channel "VB Vedic Talks," where people with varying knowledge levels about our culture can easily understand Vaastu and Vedic concepts.
Beyond his professional pursuit, he is also interested in exploring planetary positions through telescopes to provide more accurate astrology readings. He is more talented in the woodwork to build God mandapas and helped many of his clients in creating them as per Vedic culture and tradition.
