Ancient India is famous for sculpture art and architecture science.
All the villages, towns and cities in India are constructed based on the Vasthu Shastra principles and sculpture art by our ancestors. They are standing as examples of our construction ability and making a remarkable image to the rest of the World.
In this way, the cities, beautiful buildings, Normal houses and many more monuments having by this holy land and it is been also called as “VASTHU” in the Devanagari script.
The manifesto of such a construction and architectural knowledge is called "Vasthu Shastra".

There is saying states that “If the Direction is good then the life is good”. Here the direction means the place where we live, like the facing and placement of the house.
And Life means the good or bad effect which comes to us according to our birth chart.
So one should construct his house according to Vasthu Shastra Principles. If the house we live in is not our own house then also the principles of Vasthu unchanged and we have to share the good or bad effects of the house with the owner of that particular house.
The house where we are born is best for us. Sometimes we may need to live in another house or we may have to construct another house. In such cases, we have to determine whether the house will be good for us or not. The process of determining this is called as “ARVANAM” in Vasthu Shastra. ARVANAM can be calculated in two ways.
1) According to Birth star
2) According to Name Star (Starting later of your First name)
Selecting the Main Entrance (Simha Dwaram) of the house with respect to Name star is the common and best practice. However Some people from states of Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala
Will select their main entrance for the house according to Birth star and their Sun sign. But this is not a commonly used practice.
Firstly we have to choose the main entrance direction according to the first letter or sound of one’s name.
Generally, if a couple constructing or moving to the new house we need to consider the Name of the husband for choosing the House Facing Direction. There is no necessity to consider both the wife and husband’s name. Though the land or property on the Wife’s name we consider the Husbands name only to determine Main Entrance.
Desa Varga (Direction Class) Determination:
Most of Languages are having 51 alphabets. They are divided into 8 classes. Those are called “Asta Varga”.
Please refer to the above table for better understanding.
The first One is Aa Varga. This class is having the following 16 letters.
"Aa,Aaa,E,Eee,U,Uu,Ru,Ruu,A,AA,I,O,Oo,Ou,Aum,Aah"
Anyone having first letter or sound of above 16 belongs to Aa Varga.
EAST is their own and preferred direction.
In the same way, follow the below table for remaining Vargas and house facing direction determination.
Results of Direction Class:
For everyone, their own birth house is good to stay irrespective of the Direction.
For many reasons, if they have to live in other than their birth house they need to choose the home facing direction according to Vasthu Shastra for good results.
If the main entrance is in the own direction or Swa Disa gives more prosperity.
Starting from Own Direction 1, 3, 7 facing house directions are good.2, 4, 6 Directions are average. And 5, 8 Directions are bad.
The results are as follows for each house facing the direction from the Own Direction.
1) Good
2) Average
3) Friendly
4) Average
5) Enemy
6) Comfort
7) Luxury
8) Expenditure
It is better to avoid Main entrance at sub-directions like NE, SE, SW, and NW.
Gruham (House) is also called as “Gayhamu” (Body). So it is told that worshiping the house is equal to worshipping the body of Vasthu Purusha. The body of Vasthu Purusha/Home is the same as the human body.
“Sarvangay Nayanam Pradhanm” means Eye is the priority of all body parts…In the same way…
“Gayhangay Simha Dwram Pradhanam” means the main entrance is the utmost important thing for a House.
Ancient Texts saying that whoever does the holy rituals at their own house instead of doing them in someone’s house are more fruitful. So It is advised to have an own house for everyone irrespective of size and facilities in the house.
The House without Vasthu principles is useless and not fit for living. We need to consider not only the main entrance of the house but also the right construction of the rooms and their placement.
